Mojo Monday Week 106 and Christmas

Check it out another post for today. Gee anyone would think I had a ton of time LOL! Truth is I have been away with 9 other girls for the weekend to Auckland to see Mamma Mia and it has been really really hard to catch up on sleep after all the excitement of our brief time away. But what a fabulous time we had. The show was soooo much fun (probably helped with the strawberry daquiris we had) and then off for more drinks and tons of dancing at the local irish bars. Fancy going to Auckland and all we could find open were Irish Bars - go figure.

Anyway yes, I managed to squeeze in some time last night to play with this AWESOME sketch from the Mojo Makers. I LOVE this sketch as it has a ton of elements to it. SOOOO much fun to do and I just hope I did it justice. Here's my take on it.

and then a close up of the bling. Its the first christmas card for me for 2009 and I am happy to have made a start!

I have used the Ski Slope DSP and snowswirled stamp set. I tend to struggle with the snow aspect of the stamp sets as NZ and Aussie have such a warm christmas however I do love the effect they bring. I have used Dazzling Diamonds on the tree and on the snowflake behind the sentiment and ruby slippers stickles (non SU) to brighten up my tree. I even cracked open my 1 1/4" striped riding hood red grosgrain which is just sooo gorgeous to use.

We Stamp Wednesday Sketch Challenge #9

Woo Hoo another Sketch Challenge from that awesome team at We Stamp. If you haven't checked them out yet you REALLY need to. Its a lot of fun and they have provided us with some AMAZING projects.
So here is the sketch for this week and my take on it. I have used the Windsor Knot DSP and some pewter hodgepodge. The colours I have used are old olive, chocolate chip and sage shadow. I just felt like creating something that would go well for males and females alike. Pretty simple card but effective I am thinking?? The Friends 24-7 set is very versatile and I love it!!
Thanks for looking and have a great Wednesday.

Club Project September 2009

Every month a group of us like minded stampaholics get together for some serious stamping time. This month we were shown how to create this awesome box which includes a drawers for cards and envelopes and the top box is HUGE and fits a ton of chocolates (well it will just before I am ready to send it. We had left it plain so that when we got home we could decorate as we wished and this is what I have come up with. Of course I needed to make a matching card and I got to use a build-a-brad which are totally awesome for adding that special something to your cards etc.

This ensemble is on its way to someone very special in the next couple of days. I sure hope she likes it.
Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.

Mojo 105

Another Mojo Monday and this sketch was a lot different and a lot of fun. Here's my take on it.
Here's a close up of the bottom circles. I have run my two way glue pen around the edges and sprinkled with the SU fine supernova pink glitter. Thought it made the circles "pop" and of course you can't go wrong with a little "bling"

I have used one of the CC Designs stamps a Swiss Pixie called Gretel and coloured her with my copics. She even has sparkles on her wings! Very cute and just perfect for any female! and of course I have used the Raspberry Tart DSP - yep again...... Love it

Great Friend just for Fun!

You know I find it so much fun doing sketch challenges however last night I just wanted to make a card "just for fun" and just wanted to see where the mood took me. I know I have seen a card similar somewhere so thanks to whoever gave me the idea, and I'm so sorry I don't know who to give credit too but if it was you, thanks.
This stamp set Great Friend is gorgeous and matched with the Walk in the Park DSP (both out of the SU current mini) I found this card took no time at all to whip up.

We Stamp Wednesday #8

Woohoo another Wednesday means another We Stamp Sketch Challenge. The Bella Blue DSP really makes for an elegant card I think! Not to mention the sketch that the WeStamp team have come up with this week, fabulous team and thanks again. I loved this one being that it had so many components to it and for those that know me I LOVE lots and lots of layers. I am sure Stampin Up does too as it means I always have cardstock on my orders LOL.
I have used the Thoughts and Prayer stamp set which was a must have for me as soon as I opened the new catalogue. It is so versatile and you can use it for so many things. This week I have "flipped" the sketch as it suited my card better.
Well we have a rainy yuck day today in Taranaki so its motivated me to get far more work done than I have lately. So its off to the showhome now and I hope you all have a lovely Wednesday.
Thanks for looking LOL Tamara

Mojo Monday #104 and a new-baby-to-be

I sincerely apologise for my lack of posts lately and for the next month it will probably be more of the same. We are soon to be moving house and being that we have four little ones, a business to run and 10 years of built up "treasures" it is a huge job sorting, packing and tidying. Roll on move day so we can have "normal" time again, at the very least stamp time again!!! LOL

This weekend though I did manage a couple of items. Here is my take on the Mojo 104 sketch. I needed a baby shower card for one of the leaders of IFG who is leaving this week. They don't know what they are having so a gender neutral card was in order. I used the Washington Apple DSP as I really wanted something different and the stamp is from Elzybells 13-007-H. Very cute!
and the inside:

I made a matching "Its on the House" to go with it. Another of Lauren Meaders Timeless Templates which was very easy and cute.

As it is our last Icons for Girls night on Thursday night we usually end the term with something special. As Kelly is leaving due to the baby being due in November we decided it would be great to hold a baby shower for her. We have organised a ton of games and it will be so exciting to have all the girls involved. Looking forward to it. No baby shower is complete without a gift though. I have bought her the book "Hugs for New Mums". Hope she enjoys her night.
Thanks for looking and have a lovely Monday. LOL Tamara

We Stamp Wednesday Sketch Challenge #7

Yay its Wednesday and that means its time for another We Stamp Sketch Challenge. You know these are open to you all. Give it a go. I would love to see what you create. Besides which it gives me more to CASE!! Tee Hee

I was feeling excited as it felt like Spring was truly here. The Cherry Blossom tree is blooming (its so early this year!!) and its looking pretty outside so I transferred that feeling onto my card for this week. I have used the Walk in the Park DSP and Embrace Life stamp set along with a stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps called Church Chatter. I have coloured in with my Copics and added a wee bit of sparkle to the stamens (is that what they are called?). I even broke into my very preserved pretties kit to add 3 half white pearls to give the illusion of a fourth box down the bottom and of course I have used my never-far-from-me mat pack, which is just about my most well-used item. I love it. So enough of the jabbering already. Here's the sketch:

and here's my take on it and the inside as well.

Thanks so much for looking. Have a great Wednesday.

Charlie Horse for a horse lover

Recieved my order from Clear Dollar Stamps last week and it was just in time for a friends birthday. She is very much a horse lover and so I thought this was perfect for her. These stamps are called "Lean on Me Charlie". And as I still had the Parisian Breeze DSP out from the other day it was just easy to keep with this colour combination. I'm happy with the result and look forward to giving it to her soon.

Just on the side "didja happen to see that I forgot which side I should have had Charlie on. He fails to be "leaning" on anything" OOOps. Wonder if she will notice. Ahhh sometimes you really have to laugh at yourself. Could I make the excuse that it was late at night and I really should have been in bed?!!! LOL

A Big Heidi Thanks

I absolutely know that the amazing woman that this card is on its way to will probably see it on this blog before she receives it however I have to post it anyways. I have always loved Amys sketches and try doing them on a semi-regular basis and when I saw this one I just knew the perfect image for it. Isn't Heidi just gorgeous? She is from Swiss Pixies (CC Designs) and called heidi among the flowers. I have also used the Bella Rose DSP. Those colours are just awesome.

Here's my attempt at a close up. Another thing that brings me back to Amy's site (Prairie Paper and Ink) is her AMAZING colouring skills with Copics. Maybe when I grow up I might be even half as good as her. LOL

Anyway the reason I needed this cute card is that the awesome clever lady (YEP My mum) that made this....

deserves a HUGE thanks. This is Paige my second eldest in her new barefoot costume for her Twinkle Star dance. It fits perfectly even though all I sent was a couple of measurements. You are fab mum and you can see by Paige's face that she is pretty pleased too!
Thanks for looking and have a great Monday.

Mojo #103 and Tea Party

Now believe it or not I actually finished this one the other day. I had just received a delivery from Clear Dollar Stamps and this set "Sweet Scoops" was just begging to be inked. It is so very very cute and me being the matching colour freak that I am really enjoyed colouring it to match the Tea Party DSP. I have also used my Spica Glitter Pens for some sparkly toppings too fun! So here's my take on the Mojo 103 sketch.

And as this card is going to one of my daughters friends (yep you are right, another birthday party ***sigh***) I have used one of Lauren Meaders Timeless templates again , Lollipop Along and put in some toppings for when the birthday girl next has a bowl of icecream. An inexpensive but very cute gift. Gotta love that.

and here's the inside of the card and a view of the toppings.

Thanks for looking. Have a great weekend. (Its cold and raining here and if we weren't moving house soon I might have time to stamp - oh well)

We Stamp Sketch Challenge #6

OOOh another WeStamp Sketch challenge completed yay for me. I loved this one (yeh I know I love all of them) but I really enjoyed this one and using my new Parisian Breeze DSP was fun. Thanks We Stamp! So here's my take on Sketch #6.

I have taken a close up of my "dewdrops" on the flowers (with crystal effects). I thought they were cute. I have stamped twill tape with the Stem Saying stamp set and used the Petal Pizzazz set which I love. These colours together are just gorgeous. It helps that my SIL has a birthday coming up and her favourite colours are baby blue and chocolate brown so this one should fit the bill perfectly. Don't you love when it all comes together the way you plan it?

Thanks for looking and have a great Wednesday.

Mojo Monday Week 102

Lucky for me its still Sunday in America and I can still make the deadline for the Mojo 102 sketch challenge. Not only did I finally complete the sketch but I incorporated our colour challenge for the stamp group I go to once a month which was black and white (hopefully not to many of them will check my blog between now and next Tuesday LOL). I just loved all the different elements on this sketch. Thank you so much to the Mojo team for an awesome challenge once again.

So here's the Mojo sketch

and here's my take on it

Black and white are so contrasting aren't they. Really wanted to throw a bit of grey in there to soften it a bit but then thats what colour challenges are for I guess. I have used the friendly jumbo wheel for my background, stamped in versamark and then embossed in white. I have used the Sense of Time stamp set which I find is soo very elegant and of course was able to use my new white brads from SU. I really enjoyed myself with this one.
Thanks again

We Stamp Wednesday Sketch Challenge #5

OOOOps almost forgot to post this one. Here we are nearly at Wednesday again and time for a new sketch challenge and I have just completed last weeks one. It has been such a busy time of late but I still manage to get to my craft desk and have a play.

So here's the challenge from We Stamp

and here's my take on it. I really just wanted to use colours that I am not comfortable with (summer sun namely) and I am not really sure on the result but one thing is sertain it sure is different for me. I enjoyed using the Best Wishes stamp set as it had yet to see ink and of course the Pink Flamingo Paper gives me the bright colours that I love so much.

Thanks for looking and have a great Monday. It is so sunny and warm here in New Plymouth today pity I am in the office!

Staff Thank yous

The 1st September 2009 saw us handing over our capsicum and tomato business to our purchaser. Its kind of sad in a way but the stress of handling 2 completely different businesses at the same time was just getting to be too much. Soooo to cut a longggg story short we threw a morning tea for our staff on Tuesday morning and far be it for me to miss the opportunity to create something, LOL, this is the small gift we sent them away with. Technically they are not going anywhere as they will remain in employment with the new owner but I guess we are moving on!
So to get on with it........ The boxes are a template that Michelle shared with us on We Stamp. The new We Stamp is due to start on the 15th September and I can't wait! The card was totally inspired by the cheers stamp set. All the workers are not very flowery people so I wanted to come up with something that spoke to all of them. To top it off I have used crystal effects on the "beer" and the "red" and "white wine" to give it that authentic look. I think they were all pleased. The blue card and box was made for our token male employee. Poor guy putting up with all us females.
